Our client is a growing production business with a diverse team with a wide range of skills and applications - from office staff through to electrical, plumbing and production teams on the factory floor.

The team was expanding, new business opportunities and new people to fulfil the supply and production. Pressure was increasing, and there was no structure manage the wider team of people. Various personalities, various approaches to work and, varied communication approaches left the team unaligned and disconnected.

Everyone was just 'getting on with it. Which works… until it doesn’t.

We brought the entire team together, including:

Everyone completed their DISC profiles. And importantly, we didn’t just hand out individual reports. We ran a full interactive workshop to help the team understand the various DiSC profiles, what these profiles mean for communication and how they can apply this knowledge to make for better and more productive work.

These DiSC Workshops are real, fun and practical. Here's what happened:

• We walked through what DISC actually means in a business context
  
• Then went around the room and turned it into a game
  
• The team guessed each other’s DISC styles before revealing results
  

This broke down barriers instantly. People opened up and, the conversation shifted from, “Why do they behave like that?” to “I know how to communicate with them now.”

This is where the real value came out. Each team member shared key insights into areas of their personalities that were otherwise guarded, including:

• What motivates them
  
• What frustrates them
  
• How they prefer to communicate
  
• What they need from others to perform at their best.
  

You could literally see the shift in the room. Comments like, “that’s why I hate getting last-minute changes…” to “I just need clear instructions and I’m good,” and “I’m not trying to be difficult, I just want it done properly.”

Things that had never been said before about ways that the team work and what frustrates them (except in closed unproductive triangles) were now out in the open.

The impact was immediate.

• Communication improved.  People understood how to approach each other
  
• Less friction between teams, especially production vs office admin
  
• New team members integrated faster
  
• Leadership gained clarity on how to manage individuals differently.
  

The biggest shift was empathy. The team stopped taking things personally, started understanding each other, and the workflow and productivity improved.

This wasn’t a “one and done” exercise. The client now has a large DISC poster in a visible location in their workplace. The DISC board features every team member with their position on the DISC profile. Being so highly visible means that the team can get familiar with how each other thinks, works and operates, leading to better communiction, better working relationships and better operations.

Understanding and being familiar with each team member's DISC profile has become part of how they operate.
